Who We Are

Mark L. Baum, Esq.

Managing Director
Mark L. Baum, Esq.

Mr. Baum’s business career has been shaped by his experiences as a young man, specifically by lessons learned from his Grandfather, a pioneering furniture merchant in San Antonio, Texas who was in business for more than 60 years, his Uncle, a prominent footwear retailer in Houston, Texas who was in business for more than 60 years and his Father, a furniture and bedding merchant in Houston, Texas, who has been in business for more than 28 years.

Mr. Baum has a passion for business, especially small business.  Mr. Baum believes in hard work, focus and ingenuity, honest and fair dealing and entrepreneurship.

As an adult, Mr. Baum has more than 12 years experience in financing, operating and advising smallcap and microcap publicly traded enterprises in a variety of industries.

Mr. Baum has participated in numerous public company spin-offs, restructurings and recapitalizations, venture fundings, private-to-public mergers, and multi-million dollar asset acquisitions and divestitures.

To date, Mr. Baum has completed more than 125 rounds of financing for more than 40 publicly traded companies.

Mr. Baum serves on the Boards of Directors and Boards of Advisors for several domestic and international private and public companies.

Mr. Baum is a published inventor.  On April 3, 2007, the United States Patent and Trademark Office issued Mr. Baum US Patent Number 7,198,313.  Mr. Baum's invention, which is patent-pending in several international jurisdictions, was conceived in an effort to radically change the way consumers and businesses view, select and purchase mattresses, linens and other home furnishings.

Mr. Baum is a licensed attorney in the State of California and the principal attorney for The Baum Law Firm, P.C., a California corporation founded in 1998.  Mr. Baum’s law practice focuses on securities laws and related strategic advisory issues for smallcap and microcap publicly reporting and publicly trading companies.

Prior to being an attorney, advising and financing public companies and patenting a new way to sell home furnishings, etcetera, etcetera ... during a scorching summer in Houston, Texas, at the age 6, with only a Snoopy snow cone machine, a gallon of lemonade and dozen chocolate chip cookies, Mr. Baum, along with his partner at that time, his pet beagle, began his "business career" by opening up a "neighborhood refreshment stand."  Later in life, as a young man, Mr. Baum worked at McDonald's as a fry cook and cashier, at The Kroger Grocery Company as a grocery bagger, and for more than three years during high school, Mr. Baum drove a "box van" truck as a furniture delivery person.

Mr. Baum enjoys traveling, hiking, skiing, surfing, sketching, photography and really good cigars.  Mr. Baum is an avid reader and a baseball fan.  Mr. Baum does not own a television; however he does own 10 pairs of cowboy boots.
